30 days to a Greener Diet - Day 3

Day 3 was yesterday. Saturday Feb 6th. It was about eating like Grandma or Greatgrandma did. All the additives and non foods that we consume would make Greatgrandma roll over in her grave. Go for real food, organic and unprocessed foods. Actually saves a lot of money since the processed foods are generally packaged expensively and brand names are usually expensive. I read once that we should avoid the inner isles of a grocery store and travel only the outside. In my grocery store the outside isles include, vegetables, breads, meat and dairy. What else is there to eat? OK, the isle with the baking supplies. I bake my own baked goods. So I rarely need the breads wall. I buy my meats from a butcher who promises me that they only buy from local farmers who raise the meat humanely and without antibiotics and hormones. So I don't need that wall unless I'm picking up an Amish raised chicken. I am hoping to have my own chickens this year so I can bypass that wall completely. The vegetables I buy from a local farmers market and I grow what I can myself organically in the warmer months. I can and freeze what I can as well so I don't need to buy too much in that department. The organic section in my supermarket is in a section of it's own next to the other vegies and fruit so if I need something that is where I get it. Aldis sells milk from a farm which doesn't use hormones, they are extremely well priced, I also buy their butter and cheese.
Even though I do already do these things I am still learning so much about how to do it better. I will share as I learn more about all this.
Yesterday I sewed. I am almost finished making a new headboard for Debbie's bed. It is the first time I have done a headboard and it has been quite challenging. I am finished with the sewing part and my husband will help me assemble it. I will take a picture when it is completed and set up. I promised my daughter this headboard a year ago. It feels so good to be almost finished. Maybe it will be finished today.
